Although there is much to do on the St. James Place campus, many travel and adventure opportunities are available off campus including local day trips, short overnight trips, and extended adventure vacations. No matter your preference, every detail is handled for you.
Even with its growth in the performing arts, boutiques and galleries, film industry, and of course fabulous eateries, Baton Rouge manages to maintain its Southern charm. Whether you enjoy learning the history of this unique state and its culture or witnessing baseball and football stars from the spectacular campus stadiums at Louisiana State University or Southern University, Baton Rouge has it all to offer and St. James Place residents are ready to soak it all in.
Nearby you can experience two great sister cities, New Orleans with its wildly colorful French Quarter, world-class museums, performing arts, and the internationally renowned Jazz Festival, not mention the multitude of festivals held every month of the year. Lafayette, the capital of Cajun culture offers a unique art culture and some of the best Cajun cooking you will experience anywhere! You will find the Cajun culture of dancing still lives on in many dining establishments as well as renowned dance halls.
With its regularly scheduled day trips to local venues such as the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, the Shaw Center for the Arts, the Aquarium of the Americas, the WWII Museum, and the New Orleans Museum of Art there is every opportunity to enjoy the local flavor. Night time trips to the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Baton Rouge Little Theater, and Opéra Louisiane are just a taste of the many cultural venues enjoyed by our residents.
If exciting adventure vacations are of your liking, you will not be disappointed. Some of our recent trips include the enjoyment of Christmas lights along the River Walk in San Antonio, the lucky roll of the dice in Las Vegas, and the exquisite scenery of the cruise to Spain. In the fall of 2012, residents enjoyed a 10-day Mediterranean cruise from Italy to Turkey.
